31 Days: “trust”

Day 5 of 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes!

Today’s word is “trust” – five minutes on the timer… and GO!

I think each one of us as humans and especially as writers can think of too many times in our lives where trust has been broken. It can a simple lie you believed from a friend or a vast 15 year deception in which you believed what your spouse said: you’re not worth the trouble and no one would ever put up with you.

Whether it’s your friend or your spouse, the lie is like a glass pick on a window. The little lie tap-tap-taps and the abusive deception mallet-crashes on the trust window you have in your heart. It will eventually smash and you will be left feeling that no one could be worthy of attempting that again.

Just as the glass shards aren’t replaced magically in one day or even a week, trust isn’t rebuilt quickly. Time is the proof. Forgiveness is be granted but trust is earned.

… and Time’s Up.

I could’ve written about that for a lot longer that a mere 5 minutes.

Day 5 of 31 complete!
