Day 7 of 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes!
Today’s word is “hold” – five minutes on the timer… and GO!
The first thing that I think of when I hear that word is: “please hold while I direct your call”. Usually, holding is the last… VERY last thing you want to hear when this is your 3rd time hearing those words in the last 10 minutes.
Invariably those moments come when you’re holding the statement of a medical claim and there is a problem and you just want to speak to the person who can help you.
Sometimes, if we are honest, we feel God does that to us too. Now, we “know” that we are supposed to remember that God always does things in His time and always for our good, but it doesn’t always feel like it.
It can feel like we’re being put on hold – sometimes indefinitely. A problem we have or an injustice we see over and over looks like it will never be made right.
I don’t want to hear hold music. I want action. Now. But since sovereignty isn’t one of my attributes, I choose to embrace what I know is true – regardless of how I feel.
God’s not forgotten or somehow missed the injustice going on – even in the church. He sees and will remember those who have hurt rather than shepherded.
So while I “hold”, I will love and pray and hope and wait for Him to act – He will.
… and time’s up!
Day 7 complete!
